Love is KFC…

Love is KFC. Yes it is. I swear. You see, it’s all about Fried Chicken. I love KFC… it’s truly my favorite. My favorite flavor is white meat, but ti’s usually dry, so I eat the dark meat like the thigh.

Papa… he just doesn’t like KFC, it’s too greasy for him. He likes Popeye’s spicy. I don’t, it kicks my tummy’s butt around the block. If I eat it later than 5pm, I’m sure to have Acid Reflux all night long and there’s no amount of tums that will be able to cure it.

Here’s where the love comes in… when Papa picks up the chicken for dinner, he gets KFC. When I pick up chicken for dinner, I get Popeye’s. That’s love. I get Popeye’s for Papa because he likes it. I get it even though it really messes up my tummy. Papa, he gets KFC because he knows I like it. He get’s it even though he thinks it’s too greasy.

Isn’t love just wonderful??

Today was just exhausting. I got my new Windows 7 computer. I haven’t gotten a computer upgrade in 3 years, other than new monitors. Being that we’re working on some very technically advanced software, I really need to be on the most up-to-date stuff that’s out there. Because I also work on 3D Visualization stuff, I really need a computer that is just a beast…. So, when the new Microsoft OS came out, I needed a new and improved computer with Windows 7 that also has all the bells and whistles. Today, I got the box.

Now… as I’m sure you know, getting a new box isn’t about plugging the sucker in and sitting down and continuing where you left off on your old computer. Nope. First… I have to copy all the data from one computer to another. Then, I have to copy all my projects from different locations and place them on my new computer. Then, I have to set up my new email. And then, get all the programs I was using before put onto my new box and get them up and running like I had them before. Finally, I have to make sure all the shortcuts I had on my desktop are on the new computer desktop, all of the drives that need to be mapped are mapped, all of the icon shortcut tool bars for all of the programs like Outlook, Word, Excel are set up the way they were and ready to use.

That little procedure took me all day. Literally all day. In fact, I ended up staying 10 minutes later than I wanted to because I didn’t get everything finished. Further, I’ll be working on some stuff over the VPN this weekend, to make sure that I’m ready for Monday to get to work and get trucking…

Of course, I’m sure that the powers that be aren’t going to be happy with my progress. It really couldn’t be helped. Like I said, it’s not like I can just sit down and work. I needed our software installed. I needed other things installed to get ‘er done, too. So… I’m not going to worry about it. I’m sure it’ll all work out in the end, anyway….

So… you have a great weekend. This weekend is Christmas Card weekend. It’s exhausting, I have nearly 70 cards to prep and I haven’t even gotten the yearly letter written yet. I hate just putting a card in the envelope and not putting a little note letting people know how we are. Some of the folks haven’t heard from us since the last Christmas letter. It just seems cold. We’ve signed all of the cards, but still…. a little note letting them know we still exist and a robot didn’t do the mailing.

I must away… you have a great weekend. I’m going to the Texans football game on Sunday. Should be a really good time. I’m looking forward to it.

I’ve made a few changed to my blog theme, etc. I was getting tired of the old colors… this is better for now. I’m sure I’ll change that, too, but for now it’s good.

I’ll be stuck with Vista for awhile. Not doing anything til after the holidays. I like KFC too. Good stuff. Liked it better before they joined Long John Silvers as I can’t eat fish and the oil they fry it in can get into the chicken. So no more for me. A lost customer.

When I got this laptop last year I was surprised to discover it came with a special cable and software to transfer everything from my old machine to this one. All I had to do was follow the wizard, connect the cable to the two laptops when prompted and everything else was done for me. It took less than an hour and everything worked smoothly. Of ocurse I only had around 100 Gigs of files and such to move because most of y photos and music are on a portable hard drive but my e-mail, shortcuts, Internet Favorites, etc, were all set up and worked great!I’m hooked on Bojangle’s chicken, then KFC and Popeyes.

Well if I must choose it would something other than KFC and Popeyes, not much on chicken eating. Back in the old day’s of the military, the chicken was a golden brown on the outside, however, the inside was the pits.Like John says homemade tenders.

I love KFC too. Lucky for my body the closest one is a 20 mile round trip so I rarely have it.I upgraded my computer to Windows 7. I like most of it but there are a couple of things that are aggravating about it. No question about it, it is much better than Vista.

I don’t think I’ll be switching to Windows 7 any time soon…guess you’re testing the water for me. I almost forget…yeah, the KFC thing is surely love, have a good night my friend.
