The Poisonous Sun…

Nine times of of 10, I’ll be OK with a sunburn. It’s that last 10% that I have to watch out for and it’s usually Florida sunburns that do it to me… just like yesterdays.

Yesterday, I noted that I missed a strip of sunscreen from my left arm from shoulder to wrist and also a portion of my leg from knee cap to the top of my foot. For some reason, the spray didn’t get those areas… When I put on my sunscreen, I did so out doors and it was quite windy. I should have put the sunscreen on in the shower like I did the day before. Anyway, I missed a couple of spots.

The spots were bright fiery red yesterday, once I noticed I went inside, but alas it was  too late.

So, I took care to put both Aloe with Lidocane and Neosporin in hopes of cutting to the chase and getting this healed… of course, I was also hoping I wouldn’t get the other part of the reaction…

No such luck. The rash showed up about Midnight. I had trouble sleeping until about 6 am. I did not go down to the beach today, just felt too crummy and I still have my sun rash. I slept on and off until about 3pm, and then sat on the Patio with all of my skin covered with a white towel. Later I had a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup. I started feeling better about 6.

Tomorrow is my last day here. I’ll go down to the beach if it’s sunny and nice, regardless of the rash. I’ll cover up if I need to and also put on a hat. The hat and rash bring back great memories. I remember one time I was fishing with Papa and I was about 10. I was in a wide brimmed hat and covered head to toe in light colored clothing (including hands)… a monster rash from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. The highlight of the day was catching a blow fish…

So, I’m enjoying the Vacation but not as much as I would like, I could live with out the rash…

Interesting thing happed yesterday. I posted on Facebook about my blog & Facebook disconnected the link to the post as “Abusive”. It said that it was reported by one of the people connected to me on Facebook as such. I’m really disappointed. I know that I can be very formidable and I’m sure that people have a hard time approaching me… but they really should have come to me first before reporting me. The best choice would have been for them just to ignore it… I can’t even begin to tell you how many I just ignore and move on…

Yesterday I noted that a private jet flew into the Airbase with a Fighter escort. I mentioned to papa that it was kinda odd… Well I found out today what that was all about. Apparently Boeing is using some of the Airforce Bases facilities for weather testing on their new 787. Apparently this base has the only facility in the USA large enough to weather test the 787. Must be they were trying to give the Exec’s a thrill… I know I would have been behaving like a dork waving like a little kid with my face pressed to the window… but that’s how I roll with it…

Have yourself a great day. If you’re interested in all my photo’s, go here:

Happy Thursday… sorry my last day of Vacation is tomorrow…

That has to be a bummer to get burned and then you can’t sleep. I hope Friday goes better. As for "abusive" what the heck?? I can’t see anything of that sort here on anything you have written. Totally off base. : )

  2. ROCKET says:

Sorry about the sun poisoning. I know what a bear it can be. In my 20s I overdid it at a party on the beach one night and woke up late the next afternoon, badly burnt and with blisters starting to form in several places. That got me 4 days in Portsmouth Naval hospital and a good chewing out from my Ops Officer (I was still in the AF then). He threatened to court martial me for "damage or destruction of government property"! I don’t know if he could have pulled it off but he sure got my attention, especially since he came to the hospital to tell me all about it.

  5. Rambling says:

I understand from another persons FB warning entry saying that the abusive thing is a scam. I have seen your entries and in no way are they abusive.I got sun poisoning for the last time back in the 80’s. (fair skinned, redheaded and freckled) so that did it for me being in the sun much.

  6. Rambling says:

I’ll tell you my friend who has that warning on her FB.

  7. Terry says:

Sunuburns are no fun, that’s for sure. I have to be careful in the sun as I had a skin cancer spot removed some years ago and the doctor said to watch it. The end of a vacation is both sad and happy. Sorry to leave the place but happy to be back home too. Abusive entry. No way.
