Hunh… who’d a thunk it…

Well whatdaya know… The Texas Comptroller has taken the peoples complaints very seriously. They are investigating. No, not the kind where no one does anything and they just say they are, but really are!

They’ve asked everyone who tried to get through via phone or the web to fill out a form and to add comments for how long they tried. If they get enough people, they’re going to void their contract with the company they hired. That means that they don’t have to pay them and they might be able to bring legal proceedings against them, too.

So, I did my duty… I filled out the form. I told ‘em that I was trying both the phone and the website over and over again redial, reload… and then I got a bright idea and sent papa to the store to try there, too. And I never did get through. Maybe something will work out in my favor.

I’m on the wait list right now. We’re buying our front load washer and dryer. Well. Ok. Papa’s buying our washer and dryer while I’m on vacation in Florida and then we’ll wait to find out if we’re far enough up the wait list to get that rebate.

He’s going to put some sticky tiles that look like ceramic tiles down over the current floor… that vinyl crap that I cant remember the name of right now…. and then he’s going to build a stand so we don’t have to pay the $250 a piece per stand to place the washer and dryer at a reasonable height. Seriously, $250 a piece. That’s a savings of $500 for me for papa to make a nice sturdy wood stand. It’ll probably be better than the stand they make anyway.

Speaking of making a stand and saving money… I didn’t want to pay the $50 a piece for monitor stands at work. We use dual monitors, so I would have had to spend $100. So, he built me two stands made out of left over hardwood that he used to make my sidebar. They’re better quality and will likely last much longer. Plus, as a bonus, I think of him when ever I look at them.

So.. off to finish watching the show on the Battle for Okinawa. Man… talk about a fight! I always watch these shows while looking at the terrain on Google Earth… so I can see exactly what their talking about.

Have a fantastic weekend. Ours is going to be nice, about 70 with low humidity and sunny… perfect weather.

I’m going to enjoy it.

Dear Fizz, Damn, I do like writing that. Smile! Of course I posted a letter to Head Start today and in it mentioned that I had written a blog about the blue balloon and posted a link to the Painting Studio. I also let them know that some friends would be sending a note or brief letter from other parts of the world, near and far. I know for sure that letters will be arriving at the school from Berlin, Western Australlia, England and Canada. Am sure that a letter from your neck of the woods would shed little light to the classroom as many of the children in Head Start are special needs young people.
