Thoughts and prayers…

My thoughts and prayers are going out to the people of Haiti.

Some of the first video shows that it’s hell on earth… chaos…

Papa and I have agreed, as soon as relief efforts are set up here in Houston, we’re going to go buy quite a bit of Non-perishable goods to help. Houston is notorious for giving and helping. When disasters like this hit, relief effort is quickly organized so that Houstonians can send some help, if even a pallet of bottled water.

I think of those people now, and am reminded how good I have it. I live in a place that’s prepared for disasters. Ike was horrible, but we were able to recover, though it’s been gradual. Some people have gotten more help than others… but progress is being made.

Can you imagine living in a seismically active location and all of the buildings you live and work in are not built to withstand an earthquake? In fact, they’re mostly mud huts and loose plaster. How horrid it must be. From the video, it looks as though everything is destroyed, even the presidential palace. Haiti is one of the poorest nations on the planet. Since they won their freedom from the French, they have struggled to maintain a viable, productive country.

Have a good day… be safe!

Yes, prayers and thoughts definitely being sent their way. How devastating. A teacher were I used to work went there every year to do what she could. Her family even sponsored a young man to bring here and educate. It was amazing to hear how little he had at home. He didn’t even understand sleeping between the sheets. How sad. I certainly hope help arrives quickly. God Bless Them.

I heard some of the first reports on Fox via a missionary’s wife that was there. The devastation is really beyond words. I expect that many will do what they can to help. God be with those people. You’re right about a solid reminder for what we’ve got.

That’s wonderful what you guys are doing! It’s so awful and I feel terrible for them. I can’t imgine what that’s like. From what I understand there is a large fault line right here in the middle of the country. I know we’ve had some small ones here and I hope that’s all we ever have.
