The condo stay from hell…

So, we arrived on Saturday evening. We arrived too late for check in, so our stuff was put into a lock box of which we had access to once we arrived, however we had to come in the next day and sign papers and such. On Sunday we went in and signed the papers, not a word was mentioned other than that we should have a great time.

Monday morning, 7:00 in the AM arrives and we’re launched out of bed by this terrible banging on the building that seems to reverberate thru out the place. We had to wait 1.5 hours before we could call in and complain.

They offer to let us move, for an additional charge of a cleaning fee. We’re already in and unpacked. We have groceries in the fridge, we can’t just be moving around all over the place. Plus, moving me around like that is completely exhausting. I told them I’d think about it.

Later in the day, we walk down the beach and find ourselves right in front of the building where the management office is located. We decide to step in and talk to them and let them know that we’re not inclined to leave and that they’ll just have to not bang until after 9am.

The woman we talked to was head of housekeeping. I wasn’t convinced that it was a woman, but Mary read the business card and it said “Veronica”, which is by all accounts not a name you’d give a male child. She was the most abrasive person I’ve met in a long time. She cussed and swore like a sailor, right in front of us and several other clients, and was all around unfriendly and un-agreeable. They should keep her away from the paying clientele.

We told “Veronica” that I was ill with a spinal condition and Fibromyalgia and that we came here to help me rest and try and recover. That I could just up and move because it was just too exhausting for me. I was here to relax, not listen to pounding and banging and worry if my electronics were going to be stolen every time I left the building.

As always, they said that they could see what they could do and then we’d just have to tuff it out if we didn’t want to move. Remember, we’ve to pay for an additional cleaning fee if we move. Out of our pocketes, not theirs.

So… they’ve been pretty good until today. Today they were outside my bedroom window at 7am on our porch. Mary had a word with them and they said they’d be quiet, but we’ve got all of the blinds shut. We don’t want them to see the electronics that are here in the place. God forbid they get a brain in their head and decide to take something.

Have we received a discount? No. We decided not to pay money to move so we’re just SOL. I fully intend on filing a complaint at the local BBB. And, I’m going to write a bad review on Trip Advisor, once I get the location on there.

The holiday has been mostly relaxing and mostly nice, but these bits of stress are not cool.

How rotten. There is no reason for an additional cleaning fee. They have to clean it anyway for the crying out loud. You have every right to complain. Give it to them good in the reviews too. Hoping for better for the rest of your stay.

That’s just awful. When they re the ones causing the inconvience I don’t see why you should have to pay anything. I hope the rest of your trip is better and they get the hint.

I’m very sorry about the hassle Juli, I know that it really is a bit like a fly in your drink to have such uncalled for irritation. I believe you’re well within your rights to complain about it as well. There’s no excuse for a rude person like that on the staff either…ugh, I hope that you can have some peace and rest somehow.
