Sign of the Times…

So, the economic times have hit my job, too. Even tho SMT is making a profit, the Investors aren’t happy with the amount of money being made, so 5 people were laid off today.

I was not one of them. But two people from my department were.

I’m very angry. I’m angry that people can be laid off because someone’s profit margin isn’t what they would like. I’m angry that someone would do that in an economy that is so unconducive to finding another job.

Senseless. Pointless. Careless.

Each one of the SMT employees have now discovered that SMT care’s more about their wallet than they do about their people. Who really wants to work for someplace like that?

Well… Its too bad. I love my job and I love what I do. I couldn’t see myself anywhere else. I love our product and I believe in it passionately.

Too bad. Tonight, someone is disheartened, disappointed and devastated.

I am glad you weren’t affected but I’m sad two co workers were laid off. The reasoning is baffling to me if they are still in the black not to owe their good employees for their work and loyalty. Does that even exist today? Are people’s jobs that disposable? That’s frightening. Say, I didn’t know you twittered.
