Post – Ike

Well, with the exception of internet, we are back on line and "fixed". We have the new roof, of photo’s I’ll post when I have internet at home, we have the fence fixed and the back screened in porch fixed and we sit in relative comfort. Thanks be to God, cause there are still those who don’t have anything.

I can safely say that I never want to do that again. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever been thru. It wasn’t just the hurricane, it was the pre-hurricane, hurricane & post hurricane.

I am still dealing with my chronic pain. I have not been pain free for months and months. I cannot tell you how exhausting it is.

The folks at work say "You should be ok, we had a week off for Ike!" Well, I don’t know what their week off was like, but mine was with out power and it was freaking hot. I was stressed about the power, the roof, and the insurance adjuster, who still hasn’t shown up at our house. So yes, I did have a week off, but it was not luxurious and it was not fun. I did not feel in any way "better" but in fact much worse.

I’ll be glad when it gets closer to fall around here. I could use the cooler temperatures to ease the feeling of just muggy nastiness. It’s coming, it was lovely this morning getting into the car, a nice 59 degrees, I drove with the windows down. It was positively splendid.

I must be off, a Monday morning meeting awaits. Can you feel the joy?? 😉

PS I am in the process of finding out about the Great Dane… I’ll keep you all posted when I know more.

It is exhausting after such a storm and the intense daily heat.  I am not going back to work until next week and then only part time.  My insurance adjuster said he has 9 weeks before he has to show up.  FEMA was just here handing out posters.  They cannot do anything until we settle with the insurance and then they won’t do a whole lot.

That smell seemed to come through the walls!  After that guy flipped me off, I returned the favor and then pointed and laughed!  Just in time before he heaved again!!
    You have a GREAT day!!!

Thanks for your encouragement about adding  something extra to my blogs. :)

You seem to have some important things back to normal fairly quickly. I know what that’s like to have a long to-do list after a hurricane.

    All the best,
